1. Why do I need a termite inspection?

Answer: Many lenders require it, so they can be sure there are no active
termites in any home they finance. If you're buying, you want to be sure you're
not buying termite damage along with your new home.

2 .How long does the inspection take? What's involved?

Answer: Usually, it takes 1 to 2 hours. An experienced inspector will check
the entire house thoroughly, from foundation to roof. The inspections will note
any visible plumbing leaks, roof leaks as well as termite infestation and dryrot.

3. Termites won't attack a new house, will they?

Answer: Unfortunately, they have been known to...sometimes within days of completion.

4. How do subterranean termites get into a house?

Answer: Very easily. All they need is an opening 1/64" wide. They may enter
directly from the soil, or they may build airtight tubes leading from their
colony in the soil to the wood of your house. They usually commute daily between
the wood and their colony.

5. Are there other wood destroying insects besides termites?

Answer: Yes, besides the most common termite, the subterranean and the drywood
termite, there are other kinds of termites, as well as wood destroying beetles,
carpenter ants and carpenter bees. Our inspectors know how to identify them
and treat for them.

6. What if the inspection shows termites or other wood destroying
insects are present?

Answer: Then it will be necessary to treat the property to prevent any further
damage.

7. Will my family have to vacate the house?

Answer: Only if it is necessary to fumigate for drywood termites. Subterranean
termites can be controlled while the house is occupied. Your inspector will
carefully explain whatever procedures are necessary.

8. Will there be an odor when treating for subterranean termites?

Answer: There may be a slight odor for a while after treatment. However, it
is non-lingering, and any trace of it should disappear in a few days.

9. If a treatment is needed, what might be the cost?

Answer: Cost very widely, and no meaningful answer can be given until the inspection
is completed.

10. Could I do it myself?

Answer: That's not practical, since special equipment and application techniques
are required. Our trained and experienced personnel have the skills necessary
to do the job properly.

11. What if there already is extensive damage?

Answer: If the damage threatens the soundness or appearance of the structure,
it must be repaired. This is a specialized type of work, but our inspectors
are familiar with it and can give you a cost for repairs.

12. Will fumigation for drywood termites also kill subterranean
termites?

Answer: No, drywood termite colonies are established in wood timbers. Subterranean
termites colonies are established in the soil. Subterranean termites y=travel
from soil to wood and would not be exposed to the fumigant long enough to kill
them. A liquid soil treatment would be required to eradicate the infestation.

13. If my house is to be fumigated, how long will I have to
vacate my house?

Answer: Normally, you are out of your house for 2 1/2 days. So if your house
was fumigated on Monday, you would be able to return on a Wednesday.
